Happy 4th of July! I hope you are staying cool and enJOYing my favorite season. That may be changing to spring or fall though, as I do notice I run hotter as my inner midlife fires burn strong! This time of year allows me to think of what freedom means to me. It feels even more important to explore as I made the commitment to set the GPS of my life to Freedom, Joy and Peace this year. So how do we head towards or live in Freedom?
First of all, I believe Freedom is always a choice. As I have shared before, my deep knowing is that there are no accidents, mistakes or victims. Everything that we do or is done to us has some kind of Higher purpose, lesson or gift. Feeling free to me is the polar opposite of feeling like a victim. When we are feeling victimized we feel that someone, something or event has power over us. Powerlessness is another opposite to freedom.
When I look back on all the experiences that I have been through, they all were necessary. This knowing frees me to not get stuck in the past hurts, wounds or “wrongs” that were done to me and feel victimized. Instead I am free to let the past go as lessons learned. My Spirit also reminds me that everyone is doing the best they can with what they have in the moment. Sometimes it feels like way too little, but it is what it is. Fighting reality won’t change it. We are enCOURAGEd in these circumstances to gather the love & strength from our Creator, or within or from those that have the love or help to share.
You know you’re in the victim or blame state (the opposite of free) when you are asking the “why me” questions. It is OK to make a quick visit here as it is a normal, healthy emotion to difficult circumstances that seem to be inflicted upon us. The next question that also isn’t helpful is “what did I do wrong to deserve this?” We all visit this one too, but hanging out here doesn’t lead to peace or freedom either. It usually creates shame, guilt, anger and frustration as there is no easy answer when we are dwelling within the painful experience.
Here are more freedoms I hold dear sprinkled in with some famous quotes including those of Nelson Mandela’s. It felt like perfect timing as he is such a teacher of freedom and in our hearts and prayers right now as he transitions back to his Spirit.
Freedom to not be perfect: Imagine if you could live here and allow yourself the freedom to be completely imperfectly human. As I work on this everyday I see how it frees me up from the chains of trying to be what others want me to be or what I think I should be, say or do. The huge benefit of this is that as I allow myself to be free from perfection I naturally free those around me from it too. A win- win for all. “The greatest glory in living lies not in never falling, but in rising every time we fall.” -Nelson Mandela
Freedom to speak our truth: In the U.S. we are blessed with this freedom that is for sure. Although so many of us Lightworkers & women have been taught to swallow our truths, be quiet so that we don’t scare people with our deep intuitive knowings and “be nice.” This has diminished our power over the years as we put others needs before our own. We forget to brighten our own light & energy first and end up burnt out. The Divine Feminine voice of the loving Queen Mother that speaks the language of compassion, understanding & non-judgement for all and is filled to the brim herself with energy, light and love is rising up & won’t be silenced anymore.
We must always remember that this freedom is a gift though. It is to be used responsibly to add more light to the world, raise ourselves & others up & never to cut down or add to the prejudice & judgments of the world. “For to be free is not merely to cast off one’s chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.” -Nelson Mandela
Financial freedom: This is what we all seek. It many times feels just out of reach. When we obtain it something comes in our path to seem to snatch it from us. It could be that new dream or desire we have, a bill that seems to show up out of nowhere, or maybe its the guilt or feeling undeserving. Something seems to keep it juussst out of our grasp.
Is this really true though? Look at your life with honest eyes in this moment only. Do you have a place to sleep tonight with a roof over your head and will you have enough food to fill you today? Do you have some money in your pocket or the bank? In this moment aren’t you already free? “Let there be work, bread, water and salt for all.” – Nelson Mandela
It is the future we are really wanting guarantees about. But the only thing for certain is our mortality. In this moment as professed, we are always free. Free to choose another thought. Free to be grateful for all that we DO have. Free to really live from moment to moment which is all we ever are guaranteed… this moment.
But if it is true sustained financial freedom we seek, the biggest block is our own thinking. Instead of deeply knowing that Anything is Possible, our deep belief is that there is not enough. We say we want more time, energy, money, resources, things, etc to do the things we want but “You don’t get what you want, you get what you believe.” Author unknown
So the “there is not enough” thinking creates the powerless, victim reality whereas “money comes in many ways” and “anything is possible” creates the expansive freedom for the Universe to work its magic. In so many of my readings the Angels ask us to stop arguing for our limitations and putting the “it’s not possible” on our dreams of financial freedom.
Be honest and notice if you often argue for your limitations and thereby create obstacles in your path that don’t really exist. Allow yourself to open to the possibility of freedom and watch it appear. You don’t have to know how. In fact if you stay out of it in the feminine energy of patience & allowing while KNOWING anything is possible, it can come even faster and more miraculously.
Freedom to feel grateful: Always, in every situation, this is a choice. Even in the most dire circumstances I have found if I turn away from the pain for a second, I can find relief in gratitude. Often times it is as simple as the gratitude of remembering that all circumstances are temporary. It may be my breathe I turn to that is always constant, the support of someone else or remembering that the Angels are always available to help & therefore I am never alone . Always if we choose, we can feel the freedom of gratitude. “Gratitude is an art of painting an adversity into a lovely picture.” ~Kak Sri
I hope my thoughts & quotes on freedom sparks the knowing inside of you and that you have a chance to be still and KNOW that you are always free too. You are free to choose another experience, thought, belief or way of looking at something no matter your circumstance and are never, ever a victim. As Byron Katie says so perfectly, “No one can give you freedom but you.”
We are so blessed and free always in ALL WAYS. Wishing you freedom in all its miraculous forms and a beautiful month of July filled to the brim with love, peace and JOY!!! I hope to see you soon but for now, I carry you in my heart with prayers of love for you all.
Love, love, love you,
