Iceland and Northern Lights Adventure 2016

Rates include Northern Lights Tour and $364 per person in air transportation taxes, fees, & fuel surcharges – subject to change.  Please note that this tour is hosted by a local representative that will meet passengers at the airport and accompany group to all planned attractions.

Deposit of $250 due with registration.  Add $120pp to deposit to purchase Travel Insurance if desired. See details below.

Activity Level is Active:  Requires participants to be in reasonably good health to fully enjoy all experiences. For example, walking tours, walking on uneven surfaces, periods of standing & days may be longer.  We do not recommend this type of tour for individuals who use either a walker or wheelchair.

PASSPORT REQUIRED:  Passports are required for this tour at your expense.  Iceland requires a minimum of 3 months validity for a passport from date of return home.  Travelers that are not US citizens are strongly urged to contact the appropriate consulate for visa information.

                      

Itinerary

Day 1     This evening depart on our non-stop jet service to Reykjavik, Iceland.

Day 2    Local tour director will greet us at the airport. Discover Iceland’s capital city of Reykjavik on a guided tour. We’ll see the old town, shopping districts, Parliament House, Hofdi House and Hallgrim’s Church. Later, check into the quaint Center Hotel Plaza ideally located in Reykjavik’s downtown area full of shops, restaurants and nightlife.

Day 3    This morning enjoy breakfast before a fabulous day of touring. Today discover the “Golden Circle” which highlights many of Iceland’s natural wonders and historic sites. Explore Thingvellir National Park where the oldest existing parliament in the world first met in 930 AD. The park also features the geologically significant Mid – Atlantic Ridge where the tectonic plates divide Europe and North America. Continue to the amazing hot springs of Geysir and marvel at the two-tiered Gullfoss Waterfall. Later visit an Icelandic Horse Farm as well as an energy plant that generates electricity and hot water by utilizing geothermal water and steam.  This evening enjoy a thrilling opportunity to view one of nature’s most dazzling light displays…… the Northern Lights. (weather permitted and can be changed to day 5.)  Affirm with me that we WILL see them!!  Breakfast included.

Day 4   Today we’ll tour Iceland’s beautiful South Coast & have the opportunity to stand behind the plummeting Seljalandsfoss waterfall (weather permitting) and visit a wool factory. Explore the charming village of Vik surrounded by high bird cliffs as well as its famed black sand beaches. Explore the popular Skogar Museum, one of the best folklore museums in the country featuring old houses made of turf. Lastly we’ll have the opportunity to gaze at Selheimajokull Glacier before returning back to our hotel.    Breakfast included.

Day 5    Your whole day is free to do as you please. The downtown area of Reykjavik is Scandinavia in miniature. The capital city is awash with bold colors and filled with espresso cafes, quaint boutiques, tasteful shops, fabulous restaurants, art galleries and museums. Our tour director will be on hand to offer optional tours such as whale watching or an adventure jeep tour.  Breakfast included.

Day 6    Today journey to the famed Blue Lagoon, a unique geothermal spa located in the middle of a lava field. Relax in the warm, mineral rich water that is sure to rejuvenate the body and the spirit. Feeling refreshed & filled with great memories, we depart for our return flight home.  Breakfast included.
